For those of us who have the privilege of working alongside both retired and active FDNY members every day, September 11th carries a particularly profound meaning. We are reminded not only of the firefighters and EMS professionals who made the ultimate sacrifice, but also of the courage, strength, dedication, and brotherhood that continue to define the FDNY.
Every day, we have the honor of caring for and working alongside the men and women who run toward danger when others are running away. Getting to know you—not simply as FDNY members, but as fathers, mothers, spouses, sons, daughters, friends, and members of our community—has given all of us an even deeper appreciation for the people behind the uniform.
Twenty-five years later, we remember those we lost, honor those who survived, and recognize the lasting impact September 11th has had on all of us.
It is an honor to be part of your community and to serve those who have given so much to serve others.
On this 25th anniversary, we remember. We honor. And we will never forget.
